How to discover what you really want in life

A lot of people around the world are living their lives with no clue as to what they want. In fact, many would say they were not living at all, but barely existing. Work, eat, sleep, repeat, and for a lot of people it’s just work then repeat, no time to eat and too stressed to sleep.

If you are one of those people, don’t worry you’re not alone. Millions of people are wandering through life with no clear direction of where they want to go. If you are tired of merely reacting to your circumstances and are ready to start truly living, here are six tips for finding out exactly what you want from your life.

Be Selfish

If you are continually sacrificing your time and dreams for others, you will never be able to figure out what you want. You have to put yourself first. To begin the process of finding out what you want, ask yourself what you would be doing right now if you weren’t tied down to your friends, family, job, and everything else.

Regret Nothing

You should never feel sorry for being selfish. Sometimes you just have to be for your own health, well being and sanity. There will never be a good or right time for you to start living exactly how you want to live, we only ever really have right now. You will never be able to move forward with your life if you continue to hold on to regret for things you didn’t do in the past. Live in the present.

Determine What You Need

Sit down and figure out what you need most to live a happy and fulfilling life. Make a list of your priorities and must haves and take action. A simple decisions to only do things that are more in line with what you want and need is still taking action, small steps lead to big changes.

Figure Out What Really Bothers You

The only way you will be able to soar is by moving away from the things you don’t want. Take some time to figure out what upsets you and be very specific about why it grinds your gears so much.

Figure Out What Makes You Happy

When you’re happy with the life you’re living or at least beginning to do something about it; you’ll know longer feel like you are wasting it. Ask yourself what would you jump our of bed for regardless of whether you were being paid or not? Where do your daydreams take you? When you pinpoint the things that truly make you happy, you’ll have a clear idea of what you should aim for in life.

Tell Others

Keeping your goals and desires to yourself will only lead to your failure. Share what you are trying to accomplish with those around you and watch as many of them offer their support.
